The FBI announced today [Thursday] they are launching a campaign to educate the public on the consequences of posting a false threat to schools or public places.
The FBI reports they see an increase in threats following substantial incidents such as the school shootings at Sante Fe High School in Texas and the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida.
The bureau follows up on every tip received from the public, and hoax threats drain resources and cost tax payers.
The FBI reminds everyone such a threat can lead to charges in being filed.
