Testimony Wraps In Nichols Sentencing

A Randolph County jury is currently deliberating if Jeffery Nichols, convicted of killing 92 year old Carmelita Kaser, will receive the death penalty of the crime.

Carmelita Kaser was killed with a machete like knife on Easter Sunday in 2013 in Moberly.

The final witnesses in the sentencing portion of the trial testified after lunch.

The jury will have the choice of the death penalty or life in prison for Nichols.

The other person involved in Kaser’s death, Christopher Lewis, is currently serving a life term.
