Cardinals starting pitcher Miles Mikolas only gave one run on seven hits in 6 innings, however did not receive any run support as the Cardinals have now lost two in a row.
The Kansas City Royals lost 4-1 to the Seattle Mariners on the road.
Royals starter Ian Kennedy allowed three runs in five innings before being removed from the game when he felt a muscle in his left side tighten.
The Royals fell to 25-56 on the year.
