State Dismissed In DeBrodie Case

State employees have been dropped from a lawsuit filed by the mother and sister in law of Carl DeBrodie.

On Friday a judge agreed to remove the Missouri Department of Mental Health and its leaders from the lawsuit, that said state employees, along with the Callaway County public administrator and the employees of Second Chance Homes did not properly oversee the care of DeBrodie, who was mentally disabled.

The Missouri Attorney General’s office argued the state had no role in DeBrodie’s death and was not responsible because DeBrodie was in private care.
