Supreme Court Dismisses Challenge To Abortion Law

The Missouri Supreme Court dismissed a challenge to one of the state’s abortion laws filed by a member of the Satanic Temple today. [Wednesday]

The lawsuit, filed anonymously under the name of Mary Doe, alleged her religious rights were violated by a law requiring that women seeking abortions be provided with a booklet that says “the life of each human being begins at conception.” The law further requires women seeking an abortion to view an ultrasound and hear the fetal heartbeat.

The judges ruled that Doe did not have to read the booklet, and could have declined the ultrasound.
