Spending for Valentine’s Day this year is expected to increase by 6 percent over last year, according to the National Retail Federation.
American’s are expected to spend a total of approximately $20.7 billion dollars this year, exceeding the spending record of $19.7 billion set in 2016.
According to the NRF’s annual holiday study, 52 percent of people will give their valentine candy. Forty four percent will give a card, and 32 percent will give flowers.
