Oklahoma authorities said a knife-wielding Oklahoma man who was fatally shot by police yesterday [Thursday] was mistaken for an escaped inmate from the Pettis County Jail.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is investigating after 27 year old Shawn Taylor Watie was shot when he allegedly “came after” police with a knife.
The officers were investigating reports of a suspicious man walking down the highway who matched the description of 30 year old Travis Lee Davis, who escaped from Pettis County Jail on Sunday.
Davis was arrested in Oklahoma but escaped a second time by breaking through a partition in a police cruiser and stealing it before possibly escaping on a train.
