Murder Suspect Pleads Not Guilty

A Jefferson City man accused of a double shooting entered a plea of not guilty in a Cole County Court today. [Tuesday]

According to court records, Austin Corrigan was arraigned this afternoon.

He is charged with second degree murder and first degree assault for the shooting death of 63 year old Clifton Withers and shooting his girlfriend in the leg.

Corrigan allegedly called 911 saying he had heard Withers and his girlfriend had been killed in their home on Route E. He said he had gone to the location to check on them.

Corrigan was arrested after a pursuit.
