House Approves Classes On Bible In Schools

The Missouri House of Representatives voted today [Monday] to allow public schools to offer elective social studies classes on the Bible.

The bill’s sponsor, Republican Ben Baker responded to critics saying K-12 schools can already teach the bible and other texts by saying the current law has sometimes been interpreted to mean full courses are not allowed.

Baker’s bill is aimed at clarifying full courses should be allowed.

The bill now heads to the Senate.
