Bulldogs Head Coach Brandon Shafer says that Zach Watkins will be their starting pitcher.

The game will be broadcast live on AM 1340 KXEO with the pre-game starting at 4:45.

Missouri Tigers Women’s Basketball all time leading scorer Sophie Cunningham will be playing for the Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA.

She was taken 13th overall and was the first pick in the second round in last (Wednesday) night’s draft.

Cunningham is the 8th Tiger ever taken in the WNBA Draft.

The season starts in just over a month.

matt carpenterThe St. Louis Cardinals have given third baseman Matt Carpenter a 2 year contract extension.

The announcement was made just before the game against the Los Angeles Dodgers yesterday (Wednesday).

The deal would allow Carpenter to finish his career as a lifetime Cardinal.

The deal replaces a 2020 option Carpenter had as part of a 6 year, 52 million dollar contract that was due to expire at the end of the season.

The St. Louis Cardinals clubbed the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-2 at Busch Stadium last (Wednesday) night. Yadier Molina and Marcell Ozuna each went yard, and Jack Flaherty tossed six effective innings to help the Redbirds win their fourth game in a row.

The Cardinals are outscoring their opponents 19-6 during the winning streak and will go for a four game sweep of Los Angeles today (Thursday).

Kansas City’s super utility man Whit Merrifield has a franchise record 31 game hitting streak surpassing the mark set by George Brett in 1980.

Merrifield did in a 6-5 loss to the Seattle Mariners last (Wednesday) night.

He executed a perfect bunt down the third base line, and also drove in a run.

Merrifield’s streak which start last September 10th, is the longest since a 33 game hitting streak by Dan Uggla of the Atlanta Braves in 2011.

The St. Louis Blues took game one of their playoff series against the Winnipeg Jets 2-1.

Tyler Bozak scored the tie-breaking goal with two minutes and five seconds remaining in the game.

Game 2 takes place tomorrow (Thursday) night in Winnipeg.
