Dorsey Case To Continue After Preliminary Hearing

Audrain County Judge Linda Hamlett ruled today [Thursday] in a preliminary hearing there is enough probable cause for the case of a teen allegedly involved in the murder of a Mexico man in February to continue.

Seventeen year old Dekhise Dorsey is charged with second degree murder, armed criminal action, first degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon in relation to the fatal shooting of 27 year old Tajuan Williams on February 1st.

Sgt. William Johnson with Mexico Public Safety testified he spoke with Williams while awaiting the ambulance. He said Williams had sustained a gunshot wound to the left lower side of his back. Johnson said when Williams was asked who shot him he initially responded that he didn’t know, then said it was “the Dorseys.”

Dorsey’s defense attorney, Matthew Uhrig, asked for the charges to be dropped citing lack of evidence. The motion was denied.
