The need comes after rookie Genesis Cabrera was optioned back to Triple-A Memphis yesterday (Wednesday).

Michael Wacha was moved to the bullpen late last month, maybe a candidate.

The Cardinals may also give a chance to Daniel Ponce de Leon, or Alex Reyes.
