The Jefferson City Police Department is asking people to avoid North Jefferson City after a levee broke at around 3:00 this afternoon. [Thursday]
The department says the Turkey Creek levee broke.
A temporary repair to a breach in the levee’s western section failed and crews are working to fix it.
Police say the breach currently poses no risk to Highway 63 or Highway 54.
