The U.S. Women’s Soccer team is advancing to the World Cup final on Sunday after defeating England 2-1 in a close match yesterday (Tuesday).
Alex Morgan scored the game winner in the 31st minute, while star Megan Rapinoe was left out of the starting lineup due to a hamstring injury.
Rapinoe said she be healthy for Sunday’s World Cup final.
The U.S. will face the winner of the Netherlands and Sweden who meet in the semi-final match today (Wednesday).
The St. Louis Cardinals unable to overcome an early deficit lost 5-4 to the Seattle Mariners on the road last (Tuesday) night.
Cardinals starting pitcher Jack Flaherty gave up four runs in 4 innings and walked four batters.
The Redbirds would come back to tie the game off of a Gyro Munoz home run in the seventh and then lost after giving up a home run in the 8th.
