The Mexico City Council and the heads of each department met for a work session Monday evening to discuss the 2020 budget proposal.
The proposed budget estimate includes $17,224,291 in revenue and $19,090,774 in expenditures for a variance of $1,866,483 with the difference to be made up of remaining funds from previous years.
The budget includes $50,000 in donation for the development of a dog park.
The council is moving forward with the design phase of the aquatic center.
The city has been working for several years to acquire funds to fix or replace the city pool.
One third of the money is coming from a transfer of funds, one third from the Parks and Recreation General Fund and one third will either come from a use tax or possibly a bank loan.
The hope is to have contractors come up with designs for the expected $3.6 million dollars budgeted for the project by the beginning of the year.
