Missouri Now Model Employer State
Governor Mike Parson signed an executive order making Missouri a “Model Employer” state yesterday. [Monday]
The Model Employer initiative aims to help people with disabilities “obtain competitive, integrated employment.”
According to a press release, 79.8 percent of working age Missourians without disabilities are employed, while only 31.7 percent with disabilities are working.
A Missouri as a Model Employer Showcase will take place that the State Capitol on October 10. It will serve as a reverse career fair where those with disabilities will demonstrate their skills to potential employers.
