Trial Set For Woman Accused In Death Of 14 Year Old

A trial date has been set for a woman accused of killing her 14 year old disabled daughter in Maries County.

Tracy Ellis is charged with second degree murder and endangering the welfare of a child resulting in the death of Ashlyn Ellis.

First responders arrived at a house fire on March 17 and found the girl inside the residence.

Investigators found a closed and latched gate attached to a bed with a spring-loaded hasp that was only accessible from outside the bed. Ashlyn Ellis was unable to escape the blaze.

Tracy Ellis reported to investigators Ashlyn was unable to speak or walk.

Tracy Ellis’ trial will be heard by a jury in Pulaski County from February 25 through 27.
