Two Buildings Evacuated In Mexico After Utility Pole Found Burning

A burning utility pole in Mexico yesterday (Wednesday) the cause of several buildings being evacuated.

It happened just before 10 in the 400 block of South Jefferson.

Mexico Public Safety responded and found that electricity from attached power lines had gone to the ground at the base of the pole and had burned about 75% of the pole’s width.

Two nearby buildings were evacuated in the event the pole fell.

Ameren arrived within a half an hour and made the situation safe.

No injuries reported.
