The Mexico City Council approved a sanitary sewer rate for the 2020 fiscal year at their meeting Monday.
The rate is increasing from $41.99 to $43.24. The costs are based on an average 5000 gallon usage.
The sewer rate increase will cover daily operations and maintenance of equipment, capital improvement costs and for repayment of revenue bonds approved by voters in 2009.
A total of $796,000 has been budgeted for 2020, of which $300,000 will go towards sliplining sewer pipes throughout the city.
