Mexico Public Safety is working to hire a new School Resource Officer for the district’s elementary schools.
The position with the department became available due to the resignation of Jeff Hilderman.
Major Brice Mesko reports Public Safety is working to select a new resource officer as quickly as possible.
Mesko says the elementary schools will continue to have a law enforcement presence, as other officers will be performing the duties of an SRO in the interim.
