Former Jefferson City High School, Mizzou Football and NFL star defensive end Justin Smith is a member of the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in Springfield.

Smith was inducted yesterday.

He played 7 years with the Cincinnati Bengals and 7 years with the San Francisco 49ers, after being drafted as the 4th overall pick in 2001.

Smith was a 2 time first team All-Big 12 defensive end with 22.5 sacks over the course of his 3 year career in college.

The Missouri Tigers Women’s Basketball Team fell 72-53 to the 15th ranked Texas A&M Aggies yesterday.

Aijha Blackwell led the Tigers with 18 points and 7 rebounds.

The sports world still in shock over the news that NBA legend Kobe Bryant and one his daughters were among several people killed yesterday in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California.

The 41 year old Bryant was on his way to a youth basketball game with his 13 year old daughter Gianna Bryant when the helicopter crashed.

The LA County Sheriff said that there were no survivors, and according to the flight manifest, there were 9 people on board.

The cause of the crash is still unknown, and given the terrain and condition of the crash site, authorities expect the recovery effort to take anywhere from a couple to several days.
