Mexico Bulldogs and Kirksville Tigers Basketball Games Go Down To The Wire

Two close basketball games decided in the final seconds between the Mexico Bulldogs and the Kirksville Tigers at the Gary Filbert Court at the Mexico High School tonight.

The Mexico Girls Basketball defeated Kirksville 41 to 40.

The Lady Dawgs got off to a 5-0 lead in the first quarter and then never led again until the final 2 seconds in the 4th quarter.

Mya Miller hit the game winner and finished with 12.

Reghan Smith led the team with 15.

Logan Blevins put up 11.

Rounding out the scoring book was Taylor Demint with 3.

The Mexico Girls improved to 11-5 overall and 4-1 in the North Central Missouri Conference.

The Mexico Bulldogs Boys lost 68-63 to Kirksville.

It was all tied up at 49 going into the 4th quarter when Kirksville pulled away in the final minute.

Raef Yager led the team with 19 points.

Isaiah Reams with 11, and Ty Prince had 10.

Other scorers included Drew Blevins with 8, Zach Watkins had 5, Dante Billups had 3, and Michael White with 2.

Mexico Boys fell to 7-10 on the year and 3-2 in the NCMC.

Next up Mexico will take a trip to Marshall on Friday, February 7th.
