The City of Mexico is announcing a 3 phase reopen plan of City facilities, events and social and recreational activities.
An email was sent out yesterday and reads it will be an incremental process and will be flexible to adapt to continued restrictions necessary to keep the coronavirus from spreading and mitigate risk of resurgence.
Phase 1 will begin upon the lifting of the Missouri Governor’s “Stay Home Order” (projected
to begin on May 4, 2020 and run through May 31, 2020)
1. Individuals, when in public should maximize physical distance from others.
2. Social settings of more than 10 people should be avoided, unless precautionary
measures are observed.
3. Low risk City facilities and activities to open:
a. Tennis Courts
b. Pickleball Courts
c. Disc Golf Course
d. Horseshoe Courts
e. Campground to Mexico residents only
Phase 2 will begin no sooner than 14 days of downward documented trajectory of cases after
the opening of Phase 1. (projected to begin on June 1, 2020)
1. Individuals, when in public should maintain physical distance from others.
2. Social settings of more than 25 people, where appropriate distancing may not be
practical, should be avoided unless precautionary measures are observed.
3. Medium risk City facilities and activities to open:
a. Park bathrooms
b. Park water fountains
c. Softball fields
d. Skate Park
e. Park shelter reservations for 25 people or less
f. City Hall (limited interaction and physical distancing required)
g. Animal Shelter (limited interaction and physical distancing required)
h. Municipal Court proceedings (access limited to defendants and attorney’s)
i. Council Meetings limited by physical distancing
Phase 3 will begin no sooner than 14 days of downward documented trajectory of cases after
the opening of Phase 2. (projected to begin on July 6, 2020)
1. Individuals, can resume public interactions, but should still consider physical distancing.
2. All individuals should consider minimizing time spent in crowded environments.
3. High risk City facilities and activities to open:
a. Playgrounds
b. Basketball Courts
c. Campground for full use
d. Park shelter reservations for full use
e. Household Hazard Waste Center
f. Council Meetings open to public
