The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers is no longer taking future reservations for any of the three campgrounds at Mark Twain Lake from July 19th through September 13th.
Currently, the Ray Behrens and Frank Russell Campgrounds are closed through July 18th for damage repairs caused by Friday night’s storms.
The Indian Creek Campground was also impacted but crews were able to make repairs to keep the area open and available Indian Creek camping spots are currently being used to accommodate the displaced campers from the Ray Behrens and Frank Russell areas.
All existing reservations in the Indian Creek campground will be honored unless the primary occupant was contacted directly via telephone by a member of the Mark Twain Lake staff.
The Ray Behrens and Frank Russell Campgrounds will need extensive work before they can be re-opened.
Repairs and damage assessments are still ongoing throughout all the recreation areas around the lake and further closures may be necessary.
