The driver of the vehicle involved in Friday morning’s pursuit through Montgomery, Callaway and Audrain Counties is now behind bars.
According to the Audrain County Sheriff’s Department, a citizen saw Michael J. Brooks come out of the wooded area behind Casey’s in the 1700 block of East Liberty yesterday (Saturday) and alerted officers.
Brooks was taken into custody after a brief struggle with the officer making the arrest and citizens that assisted.
Brooks is in jail, charged with two counts of first degree assault of a law enforcement officer, two counts of armed criminal action, property damage over $25,000, and failure to yield to emergency vehicles.
As Brooks was on probation, the Missouri Board of Probation and Parole also issued a warrant for his arrest.
There is no bond on any of the warrants.
