Mexico Woman Accused Of Driving While Intoxicated In Vehicle Pursuit

A Mexico woman is facing multiple charges after taking Mexico Public Safety on a vehicle pursuit during the afternoon hours of Wednesday, May 29, 2024.

According to a news release from Mexico Public Safety an officer tried to stop a white, Ford F-150 in the area of Liberty and Clark Street just after 2pm.

The driver refused to stop and a pursuit began.

The pursuit went for about two miles before the vehicle left town and began traveling on gravel roads at excessive speeds.

Additional Mexico Public Safety officers, assisted by the Audrain County Sheriff’s Office, located the vehicle and driver, 59-year-old Glenda M. Barnes, at her home where she was arrested without incident.

Barnes was transported to the Audrain County Jail for Driving While Intoxicated (Prior Offender), and Driving While Revoked, Failing to Yield to Emergency Vehicle, traffic violations., and violations of bond conditions.

There were no injuries from the incident.
