A Virginia man died in a crash on I-70 in Montgomery County during the morning hours of Monday, July 15, 2024.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol accident report 18-year-old Xavier Carpenter, died at the scene of the crash on westbound I-70 at the 169.6 mile marker just before 6am.
Carpenter of Chester, Virginia was approaching a vehicle parked in a rest area when he went off the left side of the road and hit the median.
He then overcorrected and hit the vehicle in the rest area off the right side of the road, where his car came to rest.
There was no driver in the parked vehicle according to the report.
