Mexico Lady Bulldogs Softball Finishes 2024 Season in District Tournament Semifinal Game

The Mexico High School girls softball team had their season come to an end with a 9-8 loss in nine innings to St. Dominic in the semifinals of the Class 4 District 5 tournament held in Hannibal on Saturday, October 19, 2024.

The game was tied at eight in the bottom of the ninth when an error scored one run.

Mexico had a 7-0 lead in the fourth.

Kenley Jones tripled to put the Lady Bulldogs on the board first in the second inning.

Mexico scored six runs on three hits in the top of the fourth inning.

Alyssa Miller tripled, scoring two runs.

Kenley Jones drew a walk scoring one run, Hannah Loyd tripled scoring two runs, and Maddy Feger hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.

St. Dominic tied the game up in the bottom of the sixth, hitting three singles.

Mexico took the lead in the top of the ninth.

Payton Shaw doubled, scoring one run, giving the Lady Bulldogs an 8-7 advantage, St. Dominic regained the lead in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Keerstan Ewing started the game for the Lady Bulldogs.

She went six and two-thirds innings, striking out one batter.

Payton Shaw and Maddy Feger each collected two hits for Mexico.

Hannah Loyd and Alyssa Miller each drove in two runs for Mexico.

The Lady Bulldogs drew six walks for the game.

Mexico ends the season with a record of 15-15 and a second place finish in the North Central Missouri Conference.
