The deceased individual from Friday’s shooting has been identified as Julie Knehans, 53, of Jefferson City.
The officers involved have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the Missouri State Highway Patrol investigation and a Jefferson City Police Department internal administrative review.
At this moment, no additional information will be disclosed. We extend our thoughts and prayers to all those impacted by this incident.

The Missouri Highway Patrol is investigating an officer involved shooting that left one person dead.
According to the Jefferson City Police Department their officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Gordon Street for a burglary in progress around 4pm on Friday, Mar. 7, 2025.
During the investigation, officers encountered a subject inside the residence.
The subject was armed, a shooting occurred according to Jefferson City Police.
The subject did not survive the incident. Jefferson City Police requested the Missouri State Highway Patrol for assistance and they have begun their investigation.
No officer was injured during this event.
