Mexico High School senior Greyden Sewell is one of 150 students in the nation selected to serve with AmeriCorps through a grant.
The grant was awarded in partnership with C2C, the Tyronn Lue Initiative and Partners For Rural Impact.
The opportunity will allow Sewell to help with student mentoring in the classroom.
Dr. Ty Cauthen who interviewed and selected Greyden said the following “Greyden demonstrated leadership, and character during his interview.
His strong aptitude for math makes him the perfect candidate for this grant.”
Greyden is the only high school student in Missouri accepted into this service opportunity.
At the end of his service, Greyden will receive a living stipend and a scholarship.
Greyden is a member of the National Honor Society, has played varsity for Mexico Baseball and Mexico Football and currently has a 3.893 grade point average, which ranks 13th in his class of 133.
