Ex-County Commissioner Charged with Theft and Forgery

A former Moniteau County commissioner is facing criminal charges after a state investigation into alleged misuse of county resources.

Prosecutors on Friday charged 57-year-old Douglas Naros of California (MO), with one count of forgery and two counts of stealing more than 750 dollars.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says Naros, who resigned earlier this week, used county funds, equipment, and employees for personal projects ranging from road rock and vehicle parts to a county dump truck and fuel purchases.

Investigators say more than $3,700 in property and services were involved.

The Morgan County prosecutor is handling the case as a special prosecutor.
