Columbia Teen Indicted in 2025 Killing of Zarian Simpson
A Boone County grand jury has indicted a 16-year-old from Columbia in connection with the 2025 shooting death of 18-year-old Zarian Simpson.
Court documents show Rodney Moore Jr. faces charges of second-degree murder, first-degree robbery, and armed criminal action.
Prosecutors say Moore, who was 15 at the time, is being tried as an adult.
Investigators say video evidence shows four suspects robbing Simpson at gunpoint before he was shot during a chase.
Moore was later identified through a tip and statements from his mother.
He’s set for arraignment Monday.
A co-defendant, 34-year-old Steven Paden IV, heads to trial in June.
