Judge Denies Bond for Suspect in Moberly Teen’s Death

A Randolph County judge denied a bond reduction Monday for 20-year-old Alyana Mason, one of several suspects charged in the death of 16-year-old Kayla Huff of Moberly.

Mason remains jailed without bond on murder and kidnapping charges.

Prosecutors recently upgraded charges against Mason and 19-year-old Hunter Ames to first-degree murder.

Three other defendants had bond hearings delayed until June 1 after appearing without attorneys.

A fifth suspect, 24-year-old Skyler Powell, was arraigned Monday on a charge of hindering prosecution.

Huff disappeared May 6 and was found dead a week later in the Rudolf Bennitt Conservation Area.

A celebration of life is scheduled Wednesday in Moberly.
