A Boone County grand jury has handed down new charges against a Columbia man accused in a deadly 2024 shooting on Rice Road.
Twenty-year-old Jordan Brantley now faces charges including second-degree murder, first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and two counts of armed criminal action in connection to the death of 18-year-old Trevon Ashcraft.
Prosecutors say Brantley opened fire after arriving at a home with four others, and Ashcraft was caught in the line of fire.
Three other defendants have already pleaded guilty in the case.
A judge denied a motion to dismiss the new indictment, and Brantley’s jury trial is set to begin June 23.
