Medication abortion services will expand to Columbia beginning Wednesday at Planned Parenthood, following a Missouri court ruling that struck down most of the state’s abortion restrictions.
The organization says patients will no longer face a 72-hour waiting period before receiving medication abortions.
Planned Parenthood resumed offering medication abortions this week in Kansas City and St. Louis for the first time since 2018.
The decision follows a Jackson County judge’s ruling that found several abortion regulations unconstitutional after voters approved abortion rights in Missouri’s constitution in 2024.
State leaders opposed to abortion are appealing the ruling, while supporters say voters should be aware of a new ballot measure this November that could again restrict abortion access statewide.
