Boone County Jail Detainee Gets New Charge for Assaulting Officer

A detainee at the Boone County Jail has received an additional charge for reportedly assaulting a detention officer.

Court documents allege that on Friday, 36-year-old Joseph S. Oetker of Columbia scratched, strangled and kneed an officer in the face, causing the officer to have a bloody nose and lightheadedness.

Prosecutors charged Oetker with Third Degree Assault on a Special Victim and he is continuing to be held in the Boone County Jail without bond.
