Mexico Knife Attack Sees Benton City Man Arrested

One man has been arrested for a suspected knife attack in Mexico over the weekend.

Early Sunday morning around 12:32 a.m., the Mexico Public Safety Department responded to a disturbance in the 100 block of South Jefferson involving a man with a knife.

Authorities say 37-year-old Robert H. LeCoque of Benton City allegedly cut two people and stabbed a third multiple times before fleeing the scene.

One victim was transported to University Hospital and is in stable condition; two others were treated at the scene.

Around 1:41 a.m., LeCoque was located and arrested without incident.

He faces charges including first-degree assault, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon.

He is being held in the Audrain County Jail without bond.
