The Kansas City Royals defeated the Chicago White Sox 5-4 last night at Guaranteed Rate Field, narrowly avoiding a series sweep thanks to an outstanding performance by their bullpen and rookie catcher Carter
The Royals and White Sox traded leads early in a back-and-forth game. Kansas City took an early lead, fell behind twice, then tied it in the third before Carter Jensen’s go-ahead RBI double in the fourth gave the Royals a 5-4 lead they never gave up.

The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Miami Marlins 2-1 yesterday at Busch Stadium, avoiding a three-game home sweep.
Bryan Torres’ two-run homer in the second proved to be the difference,
Kyle Leahy earned the win with five strong innings, Riley O’Brien picked up his 20th save, and the victory snapped long on-base streaks for Alec Burleson and Iván Herrera.
