Meyer Named Chair of Agriculture and Environment Committee
Audrain County Associate Commissioner Leslie Meyer has been appointed chair of the Missouri Association of Counties’ Agriculture and Environment Committee for the 2026-2027 term.
“I am honored to chair the Agriculture and Environment Committee for a third year and to continue working alongside such excellent committee members,” Meyer said. “Agriculture is vital to Audrain County and to communities across Missouri, and I look forward to continuing our work to advance agriculture in the state of Missouri.”
MAC President Carol Johnson announced Meyer’s appointment as part of the association’s presidential appointments to the MAC Policy Steering Committees. Meyer will lead the Agriculture and Environment Committee, which brings county officials together to discuss policy issues affecting Missouri counties and to help shape MAC’s legislative priorities.
“Our steering committees bring together county leaders from across Missouri to help shape MAC’s advocacy and ensure our legislative priorities reflect the real needs of local government,” Johnson said. “I am grateful to these members for stepping forward to share their time, experience and perspective in service to counties statewide.”
Meyer joined the Audrain County Commission in the fall of 2021. She serves as Audrain County Associate Commissioner and has been active in county government leadership at the state and national levels, including service with the Missouri Association of Counties and the National Association of Counties.
In addition to her work as county commissioner, Meyer and her husband, Scott, operate a 1,500-acre row crop and beef cattle farm in eastern Audrain County, raising feeder cattle, cow-calf pairs, corn and soybeans. Her background in agriculture and county government will help guide the committee’s work on issues important to rural communities, local government and Missouri’s agricultural economy.

Each steering committee chair will serve on the MAC Board of Directors and as a member of the Legislative Committee during the term. Chairs will provide updates to both groups on committee discussions, priorities and progress throughout the year.
Founded in 1972, MAC is a non-profit lobbying alliance of more than 1,450 county administrative and elected officials, working to improve local services for Missouri’s taxpayers. Headquartered in Jefferson City and governed by a board of directors, MAC promotes passage of priority bills and monitors other legislation at the state and federal level to assess any effects on the state’s 114 counties. The association also provides training resources during spring and fall annual meetings and operates a self-insured workers’ compensation insurance program for county officials and their employees.
