Gunfire Investigated During Fourth of July Gathering in Boone County
The Boone County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after gunfire broke out during a Fourth of July gathering on Demaret Drive Saturday night.
Captain Brian Leer says shots were fired during what he described as a “fireworks war,” when someone pulled out a firearm and began shooting.
Fortunately, no one was struck or injured.
Deputies responded to the scene around 11 p.m., where they spoke with multiple juveniles as fireworks continued to go off nearby.
The investigation remains ongoing.
