The Kansas City Royals fell to the Baltimore Orioles for a dominant three-game series sweep with an 8-2 loss yesterday afternoon.

The St. Louis Cardinals wrapped up the 2026 MLB Draft by selecting 23 players over two days, including 16 picks on Day 2. The club leaned heavily on college talent, with 21 of its 23 selections coming from the collegiate ranks and just two high school players drafted.
Pitching was the organization’s top priority, as the Cardinals selected 12 pitchers, along with six outfielders, four infielders and one catcher.
Their class featured talent from 12 states, led by six players from California and four from Texas.
Day 2 was highlighted by UCLA right-hander Cal Randall (5th round), whose elite strikeout numbers made him one of the nation’s top relievers, along with Texas left-hander Luke Harrison (8th round), Oklahoma State slugger Kollin Ritchie (20th round), who hit 31 home runs this season, and Cal Poly closer Nick Bonn (10th round), the NCAA Division I leader with 17 saves.
The Cardinals’ draft class was also rich in players from top conferences, including seven selections from the Big 12, while the signing deadline for all drafted players is July 27 at 4 p.m. CT.
