Columbia Regional Airport is celebrating its busiest June on record.
Nearly 19,600 passengers departed the airport last month more than double the total from June of last year.
Airport officials say the growth is being driven by expanded flight options, new destinations and convenient access to major airline hubs.
Earlier this year, aviation consulting firm Mead & Hunt named Columbia Regional the fastest-growing airport in the nation among similarly sized airports.
To keep up with demand, the city recently opened a new 600-space parking lot and launched a daily shuttle service to the terminal.
