Seven people were arrested Sunday in downtown Columbia after a brawl.
Officers were called to the report of a fight near Ninth and East Walnut Streets at about 1:30 a.m.
A video of the fight was reportedly posted on social media showing multiple people fighting with police trying to stop them, but it was unclear from the video how the fight started or whether anyone sustained serious injuries.
Several people were pepper sprayed and then were decontaminated at the Columbia Police Department, where they each also declined medical treatment.
The seven suspects were arrested on suspicion of charges including peace disturbance, third-degree assault, assault on an officer and resisting arrest. One person who was involved had an outstanding warrant, the release states.
One officer was reportedly hit in the head but was not hospitalized.
A use-of-force review of the officers’ actions is underway.
