St. Charles Road Bridge Reopening Early
Drivers on Columbia’s east side will soon have one more way across Interstate 70.
The Missouri Department of Transportation says the St. Charles Road bridge is now expected to reopen August 14 more than a month ahead of schedule thanks to dry weather that sped up construction.
The new bridge features wider lanes, shoulders and sidewalks, although the sidewalks will open later.
Once the bridge reopens, Clark Lane at Hanover Boulevard will close August 17 for about two months while crews complete a new roundabout.
Construction on the Providence Road bridge also remains ahead of schedule, with the overall project still expected to wrap up by the end of October.
