Lawsuit Filed Against Boonville School District Regarding Disabled Student’s Injury
A lawsuit has been filed in Cooper County against the Boonville R-I School District following an incident where a student was injured in 2025.
The mother of a student with disabilities is suing the school district after the school district allegedly failed to properly accommodate a student with mobility, vision and communication difficulties. Medical staff reportedly called the student’s mother on April 2, 2025, when the student tripped. They later learned that surgery was required for the victim’s fractured growth plate.
Count One claime Negligent Supervision of Staff, a second count claimed negligent supervision of children allowing them to become injured. A third count accused the school of Violation of the Human Rights Act for failing to accommodate the student after they returned to school, and they were allegedly denied access to a bus due to being in a wheelchair.
The Plaintiff is seeking $25,000 or more in damages for each of the three counts against the school.
