Gas Station Murder Trial Delayed to 2027
A Columbia man accused of fatally shooting another man at a gas station in 2024 will now go to trial next year.
Court documents show Seth Brinegar’s jury trial has been moved from September 1st to February 23rd, 2027.
Brinegar was 18 at the time of the shooting.
He faces charges including second-degree murder, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.
Police say 33-year-old Corey Bilger was pumping gas when Brinegar allegedly fired from inside a vehicle.
Bilger later died at a local hospital.
Brinegar’s attorneys requested the delay, citing out-of-state witnesses, ongoing expert reviews and a family situation.
