Cole County Man Found Guilty of Child Sex Crimes
A Cole County jury has found 33-year-old Korey D. Owens guilty on two counts of first-degree statutory sodomy involving a child.
The charges stem from a 2015 child abuse investigation.
Prosecutors say the victim testified about extensive abuse, with that account supported by disclosures to multiple adults, including forensic interviewers and Children’s Division investigators.
The jury deliberated for just over three hours before reaching the guilty verdict.
Owens is scheduled to be sentenced November 25 and faces up to life in prison.
