Crews Battle Heat and Flames in Residential Fire in Columbia
Crews responded to a residential structure fire on Thursday around 10 a.m. in the 1100 block of Pannell Street.
The CFD crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from a two story home. There were no occupants home at the time. The firefighters quickly began the fire attack, but needed to rotate out regularly to rehydrate and cool off. They had the incident under control within 35 minutes.
A total of eight fire companies, four chief officers, one safety captain and two fire marshals with 32 personnel responded to this incident.
The Columbia Fire Marshals Battalion is currently conducting an investigation into the origin and cause of the fire.
