Jefferson City Man Charged in Infant Abuse Case
A 23-year-old Jefferson City man is facing two felony charges after a four-month-old girl in his care was hospitalized with multiple broken bones and other injuries.
Court documents say doctors contacted police Thursday after finding bruising and fractures to the child’s ribs and legs. Medical professionals said some injuries were consistent with shaking.
The child’s mother told investigators she had seen Noah Humphus shake the baby while she was crying. Police say Humphus later admitted shaking the child multiple times and demonstrated handling the child roughly.
Humphus is being held without bond in the Cole County Jail.
