Data Center Concerns
More than 100 people gathered Monday night for a town hall in Montgomery County focused on two proposed data centers.
Preserve Montgomery County hosted the meeting at Montgomery County High School, where residents heard updates from local and state officials and an attorney involved in a lawsuit over the projects.
The lawsuit alleges county officials violated Missouri’s Sunshine Law and failed to provide required notices.
The county and state are seeking to dismiss the case.
Residents raised concerns about the potential impact of the data centers on water, electricity costs and the environment.
Google and Amazon Web Services have announced plans for data centers in the county, with investments totaling about 25 billion dollars.
